Geronimo M. Rodriguez Jr. has been the Vice President of Diversity and Community Outreach with Seton Healthcare Family in Austin, Texas since June 2006 (NSHMBA, 2016). He is also the Co-Chairperson of the Central Texas Health Industry Steering Committee and the co-author of the Diversity chapter in Hospitals. Also, he has also served at the LBJ School of Public Affairs and in the White House Office of Congressional Affairs.
When he was young, he spent months as a farmworker and spent seasons after seasons journeying with his parents from South Texas to the Northwest United States. He earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Edward’s University. Subsequently, he received various scholarships including College Assistant Migrant Program Scholarship and a four-year academic scholarship. He has also attended the Maxwell School of Citizenship, Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and the University of Texas where he graduated with a law degree (PTA Events, n.d).
In 2001, St. Edward’s University recognized Geronimo with an Alumni Achievement Award while Texas Monthly acknowledged him as a Rising Star in 2005 and 2006. In March 2007, he was recognized with an award of Austin under 40 Award for Government/Political Affairs. In September 2008, Syracuse University awarded him with a Chancellor’s Citation for his accomplishment in public duty. The awards and achievements relate to his policies where he has assisted the Seton Family to expand their efforts across the healthcare system. He also had effective legal policies that include helping in the legislative planning for the Seattle Round of the World Trade Organization. His human resource policies helped him to advise higher-ranking White House personnel on recruitments relating to the Hispanic community.
