Communication is a very important element to all relationships among different parties. It is used to show or indicate the passing of information from one person to another there is a mutual understanding among the individuals. On the other hand, global communication indicates a much broader perspective. Global communication entails sharing connecting and relating to the various geographical, economic, political, social and other cultural divides. It also implies that there is a transfer of knowledge as well as ideas from centers of power resulting in new intercultural hegemony. One of the major global communication solutions is the internet and also the other older forms which include telephones and international mail. These have been vital in bringing the world together.

Global communication has been a major factor in globalization when coupled with technology; communication becomes faster, smoother and easier. It is important also to note that in a globalized world like the one we have today, it is necessary to have effective communication. Global communication goes beyond interaction of employees within an organization. It is important to know the people that you aim at addressing to have effective communication; Global communication is important in an organization since it is just by a click of a button that the world can get information about any company. This aspect makes it very vital to be able to handle any complaints or issues relating to the customers well as it will go a long way in ensuring that the organization reputation is well protected.

Global communication is highly affected by the intercultural factor.  This factor can be seen by the rising numbers of Multinational Companies. The intercultural factor has caused people to move from different regions and corners of the world as they seek employment in the various Multinational Companies. It is therefore important to understand that there would be diversity in the workplace from the employee’s cultures and languages. This diversity, if well-handled can be a positive reinforcement in the organization and it can also bring about synergy.

Cultural differences influence global communication. The differences can be seen even in the medium that will be chosen for communication. Industrialized nations have been found to rely much more on electronic technology as opposed to having face to face kind of communication. Countries such as Canada, Germany, UK and the United States of America are known to have this trend. However, Japan is one of the countries that have quite good access to the latest technology but still prefers the face to face kind of communication. In other cultures, informed agreements and personal bonds appear to be more binding than any other formal contracts.

There have been some changes that have been seen in regards to global communication (Rand, 2012). Most of these changes can be well attributed to technology. Technology is rapidly changing, and it seems like something new seems to be discovered every day. The improvement caused by communication is quite good, but it is also not ideal to implement every change that is discovered. Video conferencing has been a good source of communication over the past years. Video conferencing has brought people from thousands of miles apart to be in a position to still communicate with a face to face manner. The idea is very handy to managers in situations when they have vital information that they need to communicate especially with Multinational Companies.

Communication is vital for every organization. From time to time, there are phone calls, emails and an increasing use of video conferencing. These technologies are very important in an organization as they allow the small businesses to be in a position to recruit employees as well as manage them remotely. It is also important as it allows the employees to be able to interact with their employers all over the world. Successful organizations are finding ways to be able to accommodate the various diverse counterparts in the organization (Jayyusi, 2006). Cultures do vary, and some of the things that may be acceptable in the US may not necessarily be accepted elsewhere.

It is important to remember essential tips when handling global communication in the workplace. Some of them include monitoring facial expressions because one can see how you react when told certain things. It is important to take time before responding as it will give one good time to absorb that which they have been told. If communication is not handled well, it could lead to some wrong information that can cost the company.

Business leaders, as well as human resource professionals, know the importance of effective communication within the organization. For a long time, the preferred method of communication was face to face, but it is slowly changed to various ways of communication such as video conferencing. In as much as face to face, communication has reduced due to emails and video conferencing; it is still a key way of communicating and still the best. Corporate communicators, as well as HR experts, have indicated that it is quite important to be flexible regarding communication and also to take into consideration the circumstances that are at play when selecting the method of communication.

Change is inevitable. In as much as these changes that we see in technology are affecting global communication, it is important for the employees to be aware of the religious, linguistic, cultural and the various social differences that are necessary for building very strong communication channels among the business contacts and colleagues. Global communication is therefore vital and should be handled both effectively and efficiently within an organization.
