Advertisement for Negotiation Experts Jobs
Our company deal with matters of crisis de-escalation, specifically the provision of negotiators to help solve crises without any injuries, damage to personal and public property or loss of life. We handle suicide cases, negotiations with hostage takers, violent and armed criminals and suicide bombers among many other life-threatening cases. We are looking forward to employing 10 qualified individuals to serve in the capacities of primary negotiators, secondary negotiators, team leaders, intelligence gatherer, and mental health consultants.
Below are the roles, qualifications and skills we will be looking for during the interviews:
Primary Negotiator (2)
Roles
- Engaging in the real negotiation with the people causing the crises
- Informing the rest of the team about the progress of the negotiations
- Ordering the other members of the team to avail any materials needed to make the negotiations successful
- Listening to the demands of the people involved (Slatkin, 2015)
Skills
- Good listening ability
- Ability to keep time in regards to the arrival at various agreed places
- Ability to establish a good rapport with people during a conversation
- Self-control-should be able to control their emotions no matter the amount of provocation
- Ability to influence people to change their positions and attitudes
- Ability to make hard decisions within a short period
- Ability to make people trust them
- Ability to negotiate while under intensive pressure
- Should be able to assess the amount of risk each of the possible decisions will cause
- Should be a team-player-work together with other members of the team without friction (Slatkin, 2015)
Qualifications
- Should have a degree in criminal law or any other related field
- A master’s degree in any relevant field will be an added advantage
- Should have worked as a negotiator for at least 5 years
Secondary Negotiator (2)
Roles
- Relaying information from other sources to the primary negotiator
- Replacing the primary negotiator whenever there is need
- Performing any other duties assigned to them by the team leader (Thomson, 2015)
Skills required
- Good listening ability
- Ability to report accurately what is said by others
- Should also be able to negotiate under pressure
- They should be able to make difficult decisions
- Should be able to collect enough information from their subjects
- Ability to influence decisions and change of behaviour
- Ability to easily win other people’s trust (Thomson, 2015)
Qualifications
- Must be a holder of a degree in criminal law or any other related field
- Must have served as a negotiator in a recognized organisation for at least 3 years
- A master’s degree in criminal law or any other related field will be an added advantage
Team leader (1)
- Responsibilities
- Locating the place for the setting up of the negotiation operation centre
- Allocates responsibilities to other members of the team
- Helps in the training of the team members
- Makes hard decisions and passes them to the rest of the team (Slatkin, 2015)
Skills Needed
- Ability to make hard decisions under pressure
- Ability to mobilise the team
- Ability to come up with a strategy to make the negotiation exercise successful (Thomson, 2015)
Qualifications and Experience
- Must be a holder of a degree in criminology or nay related field
- Must be a holder of a master’s degree in criminology or any other relevant field
- Must have served as a manager or any leadership capacity in a legal organisation for a minimum of 5 years
Intelligence Gatherer
Responsibilities
- Gathering information about the subject
- Researching about the names, work, family members and general information about the subjects
- Looking for any other type of information required by the team leader (Slatkin, 2015)
Skills
- Collecting information from different sources
- Establishing rapport with people
- Working in a team (Thomson, 2015)
Qualifications
- A degree in criminal law/criminology or any other related field
- Must have a master’s degree in criminology or any other related field
- Must have worked as a spy or intelligence officer in any recognized institution for at least 4 years
Mental Health consultant (3)
Responsibilities
- Evaluating the mental status of the subjects
- Carrying out on scene interviews with members of the family
- Helping in the provision of intelligence to the negotiators
- Monitors the levels of stress during the negotiation exercise
- Develops training scenarios to help prepare negotiators (Slatkin, 2015)
Skills
- Ability to make accurate observations
- Ability to carry out situation analysis
- Ability to carry out mental analyses of the subjects and negotiators (Thomson, 2015)
Qualifications and Experience
- Must be a holder of a degree in mental psychology or any forensics related field
- Must be a holder of a master’s degree in clinical psychology
- Must have practised mental health consultancy in their own companies or as employees of consultancy institutions for at least 5 years
