Objective 1

The objectives of this project were met by researching on the best three practices for anemia management in hemodialyisis patients by Week 2. Various clinical guidelines have been developed with the aim of optimizing the quality of anemia management for the patients suffering from chronic kidney disease (Pisoni, 2014). I did not have difficulty stabling these best practices as there are research findings that I could refer to. A good example is the dialysis outcomes and practice patterns research. This is an international investigation body that was developed data on the various current aspects on hemodialyisis management. The finding from this research will be essential in creating an education tool for the staff and patient by week 5.

Objective 2

The objective in this project was to understand how to make sound decisions in the use of patient information and healthcare technology in the designing, managing, coordination and evaluation of nursing care for families, patients and communities. I identified measures to ensure there is no misuse of confidential patient information by ensuring there are early warning systems that are manned by IT for critical lab evaluation. However, I experienced challenges in narrowing down to the warning signs. At this point in the project, I have identified the key assessment skills that nurses need to include in their focused assessments.

Objective 3

Professionals in the medical field are required to demonstrate utmost clinical excellence when carrying out their duties. The duties include providing compassionate, caring and culturally-appropriate patient-centered care to individuals in a variety of settings (Locatelli, 2008). There are rules and guidelines that nurses, doctors and other medical personnel should adhere to so as to provide ethical services to stakeholders. In this context, the cultural beliefs and practices that are likely to affect the goal of anemia management in hemodialyisis are all about the social beliefs of individual patients and their families. These beliefs could also extend to religious beliefs and practices. I need to dig deeper into these factors and understand why they are crucial in the disease management.

Objective 4

The project objective at this stage is to establish patient healthcare outcomes and communicate them effectively so as to enhance service delivery. I learnt that these healthcare outcomes should be discussed with all stakeholders involved. This includes the medical personnel, patients and their families.  Achievement of this objective was done by ensuring I understood the roles of the stakeholders in improving patient health care outcomes. However, I am yet to obtain the evidence of completion educational that entails informative pamphlets and management guidelines.

Objective 5

Medical educators and physicians are expected to adhere to a multitude of guidelines and continuously demonstrate professional behavior. At the root of medicine is professionalism. The objectives of this project task were to ensure the professional values and behaviors are adhered to as outlined in the professional standards, professional code of ethics and legal statutes. I was able to apply the ethical, ethical and nurse practice standards to determine own practice taking responsibility for the actions throughout week 1 to 8. However, to fully understand the impact of these statutes, I would like to explore the ethical dilemmas that might arise as they tend to interfere with professionalism.

Objective 6

Healthy lifestyles are promoted through risk reduction, health promotions and most importantly, disease prevention sensitization for individuals and populations (Covic, 2013). The project delved into the importance of individuals keeping themselves healthy and free of infection. For this project, I identified healthy habits that the community members can implement with the aim of reducing contraction of infection and the spread of contagious ones. These practices entail good nutrition, regular checkups and monitoring of bone health during sensitization sessions. These habits play a key role in managing anemia related conditions.

Objective 7

The objective of this project task was to understand how evidence-based knowledge and theory can be incorporated into nursing practice. The task was to review current nursing practices in the anemia management of hemodialyisis patients by week 6. I was able to successfully understand the nursing practices that are used in the everyday management of dialysis patients. I will however dig deeper into evaluating the impact of evidence-based knowledge and theories in nursing practice. It is also important to evaluate well-designed observational studies with the aim of offering credible information that can be used in the monitoring of clinical implementation guidelines.

Objective 8

Medical personnel work in collaboration with other specialists in different disciplines. In this context, the nursing fraternity works closely with renal specialists. The interdisciplinary healthcare partners and other political, professional and regulatory organizations affect the healthcare operations in any area. This is because medical facilities have to coordinate their efforts with other stakeholders so as to ensure the patients and their families are taken care of wholly. Examples of the interdisciplinary healthcare partners include the local government, blood banks, medical professional regulatory bodies and non-governmental bodies that specialize in healthcare (Pisoni, 2014). All these bodies work together to support change in healthcare.

Despite establishing the relevant interdisciplinary bodies for this project, I experience challenges collaborating with the social workers. As at the time of writing this summary, I am yet to have a sit down with the renal dietitian at Fresenius Dialysis Center. This objective fell short of the excellent needs.

Objective 9

There are a lot of resources in any medical facility that are used round the clock to ensure patient safety and high quality healthcare. In addition to human resources, a medical facility needs drugs, medical equipment and utilities to effectively cater for patients’ health needs. It is important to note that the treatment and management of this condition depends on several factors: cause, type and severity. The objectives of this section of the project were met by outlining the treatments of anemia (Locatelli, 2008). These may include dietary changes, medicines, supplements, surgery or procedures to treat blood loss. Resources in the medical facility should be able to effectively be used in these treatment options. I can now comfortably identify the resources that should be in use for various treatment options.

Question 10

Professional career development is a long term venture. The journey does not stop as knowledge is always evolving. Objectives of this project are to engage in a scholarly inquiry to enhance professional development.  I achieved this objective by reading through various medical journals and I picked several useful tips on how one can enhance their expertise in this field. Career development in the management and treatment of anemia also entails ensuring the patients are educated on the nature of the disease (Covic, 2013). Surveying is the best way to evaluate what the patients know about anemia. The objective was met by suing interviews and questionnaires to collect feedback.
