I believe that when a person dies there is nothing more that he or she could do with the body. It is good to choose to be an organ donor out of the desire of helping other people. This is a humanitarian act of charity that has no age limit provided the person donating is healthy. The organs that are usually transplanted are the kidneys, lungs, heart, pancreas and liver. The tissues that are usually transplanted are the skin, bone, heart valves and the eye cornea. This shows that a single donor can save the lives of a number of people. There are a number of benefits of donating our body organs to help in the prolonging of a persons’ life.
We can do it today.
This paper will focus on the different researches that have been carried out on the benefits of donating our body organs after dying. These are the different ways that an organ from a dead person can prolong the life of the recipient. The researches that will be used will show how organ donation increases the life span of the recipients who are able to live for many years. Some of the researches will show how the quality of life of the receipts is improved after receiving an organ donation. This will include how a person is able to live a life that is medication free after receiving an organ donation. Thus, the long term and costly treatment that had become part of their life will end. As a result, the recipients will a high quality of life. Different types of organ donation will be looked into and how they improve the quality of life of the recipient. Some of the examples are a recipient who gets eye and tissue donation being able to see again and a person living pain free because of a bone donation. Other examples include a bone marrow transplant, which helps the children with leukemia and for the babies who are born with heart problems receiving heart valve transplants. Some of the transplants are cheaper than the dialysis that is required for the patient to be alive. Considering that dialysis is not a permanent solution to some of the problems, an organ transplant will increase the life expectancy of the patient. To the mourning family, organ donations comforts them by knowing that the death of their loved one was not in vain because it has helped another person to live.
The above ideas will be discussed using a number of medical researches on the benefits of organ donation. This will be by the use of case studies and researches that have been carried out. Angelo and Lefler are one of the researchers who did a case study on organ donation. It provides a comprehensive literature on how the organ donation of a person who is dead and unidentified helps in prolonging the life of another person. This case study deals with applied ethics in health care administration. This will be used to identify the benefits of donating our organs once we are dead. Another article will be a case study of the recipients of the body organs (“Organ Donation Case Studies: Organ Donation”). This focuses on how two transplants helped a recipient. She was suffering from kidney failure and Leukemia and luckily, she was able to get organ donors. This case study helps in showing how donating our body organs can help others. Mithra et al. carried out a study, on the perceptions and attitudes towards the issue of organ donation. This study will help in showing the number of people who are willing to donate their organs thus, benefiting the recipients. It also shows the positive attitudes that the people have towards organ donation. Baldasare did a scientific research on how organ donation succeeds in benefiting the patients. The research outlines the importance of donating body organs to both the recipient and family. A case study that describes the effects of organ donation was done by University of Wolvehampton (“Organs and Tissues for Human Transplantation). This focused on both the social and psychological effects on the recipient and the family. The research explains the benefits of donating organs. The above researches and case studies help a person to understand the benefits of organ donation.
The readers should be able to understand that people have their lives being extended through organ transplant. As a result, this improves their health. When we die, it would be nice of us to give the others the gift of life through organ donation. Our body organs as a person can help more than one person if we donate them. There are some organs, which can be donated while a person is alive and other when he or she is dead. All the people irrespective of the age, medical histories and background can be organ donors. The medical condition of a person will determine the organs that he or she can donate. The life of people will be prolonged, their health status will be improved and to the grieving family it will be a way of consoling them. The death of his or her loved one will have benefited someone else.
Angelo and Lefler (2016) explained the benefits of donating the organs of a person who is unidentified. This is a scholarly article that shows how the lives of people are extended through being the recipients of organ from donors. People donate their selves to science through organ donations. The concept is a fact because there are interviews, which were done on the people who were the recipients of the organs. They talked of how they had stopped going for dialysis after getting their organs transplanted.
There were a number of case studies done on the recipients of organs (“Organ Donation Case Studies: Organ Donation”). The content of the case study appears to be a fact because it includes what the recipients had to say about organ donation. The sources of the case study are clearly indicated as the stories of the recipients of organs that were donated. This case study offers enough evidence on the benefits of donating our body organs when we are alive or dead. The organization has helped many patients in getting body organs, thus prolonging their lives.
Mithra et al., studies the attitudes and perceptions of people about organ donation. This scholarly source was researched in coastal South India. The facts are clearly indicated by the settings and the methods that were used in the research. The language that is used in the research is objective and offers enough evidence of the benefits of donating body organs. The information of the research is not outdated but reliable because it shows the figures of the people who are willing to donate their body organs because of the benefits. Indicating that there was a high level of awareness about organ donation is a sufficient evidence of the benefits of organ donation.
Baldasare did a study on how organ donation benefits the recipients. This is a scholarly source because it is a research on the benefits of organ donation. The language that is used is objective and the source is still reliable. The argument provided is one sided on the benefits of organ donation.
Lastly, the University of Wolvehampton (“Organs and Tissues for Human Transplantation) did a case study. In addition, this scholarly source deals with the benefits of organ donation. The facts about organ donation are clearly indicated in the case study.
